Three Days To Never by Tim Powers. pb .99

I have three other books by Tim Powers, none of which have I managed more than the first few pages before giving up. I’m not sure if that was because of his writing or my headspace.

It’s nice to finally get into a book by one of the more renowned authors of the past 15 years. The story of a 12 year old girl and her father who unexpectedly find a videotape that holds the secret to time travel. Conspiracies and thrills ensue to great effect.

The plotting is tight, characterization wonderful (though I always wonder about the speech of 12 year olds and whether or not they really talk so maturely) and an ending that wraps things up neatly – as much as it can be, anyway.

Overall, a good intro to Powers’ work.
