Eifelheim by Michael Flynn pb .99

I like Michael Flynn. Loved In the Country of the Blind(OoP) and the Firestar (OoP)series…but Eifelheim not so much.

And that’s my problem, really. The story of a modern couple in Germany doing historical research and theoretical physics who get caught up in the mystery of the disppearance of a small village in the 16th century that just may have made first contact. An intriguing, incredibly well researched plot, wonderfully realized characters and a lot of 16th century scientific philosophy. That makes complete sense within the plot, but which I found difficult to get through. However, I am a somewhat impatient reader who really wanted find out what happens.

Even with my impatience noted, this is a fantastic book well worthy of its Hugo nod. And you learn a lot about the 16th century. And theoretical physics.
